How does Skinpen microneedling work?

3. What can I expect after a SkinPen® procedure?

Immediately after your treatment, your skin is expected to look and feel like a sunburn with mild to moderate redness, slight swelling, feeling tight, and mild burning sensation for the first 24 hours. The next day will be more comfortable, however redness will be visible. Side effects are temporary and typically resolve within three days. Mild flaking typically starts on day 2 or 3 of your healing process and my flake for up to 5 – 7 days. Total healing time depends on the depth of the treatment, skin type and skin condition. Some patients may heal completely in 24 hours. Proper post-care is provided to ensure more effective healing.

4. Is it painful?

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING A TREATMENT?
A cold compress is applied to the treatment area while DA is first mixed with lidocaine to assist in “freezing” the area to provide comfort during the treatment. A grid pattern is then made by your practitioner to provide safe margins for injection. Each treatment typically consists of 20-30, or up to 50 injection sites.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER A TREATMENT?
Swelling, redness, bruising, numbness, and lumps can be expected after treatment and considered normal. The area will be sensitive to touch. The degree of swelling and discomfort varies between patients and will resolve within 1-2 weeks. Ice packs can be used post treatment to aide in the discomfort. Full effects of the treatment will be seen in 4-6 weeks.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS DO I NEED?
This treatment generally requires multiple sessions, but once completed, results are considered permanent due to the lasting destruction of fat cells. The number of treatments is dependent upon the amount of fat in the treatment area. We recommend a minimum of three to six treatments. Treatments should be performed every 4 weeks.
